March 9, 2015 - Thunder Bay residents will have another opportunity to provide feedback on the City's in-progress Stormwater Management Master Plan at a special open house event on Wednesday, March 11.
The event runs from 4-8 pm at the Italian Cultural Centre. City staff and the consulting team will discuss the project, and presentations on the Plan's status will take place at 4:30 and 7 pm.
The Plan, being developed by City staff and consultants from Emmons & Olivier Resources, (EOR) Inc., will guide how the City manages stormwater for the next 20 years. The final Stormwater Management Master Plan is due to be presented to City Council later this year.
"This Plan will provide an important road map for the City," said Kerri Marshall, Director - Environment. "The recommendations in the Plan will be aligned with the City's Climate Change Adaptation Strategy. Further, the recommendations contained in the Plan will help us preserve the health of the environment and our infrastructure through the adoption of a holistic approach to stormwater management."
"It is vital that municipalities consider stormwater management, as it affects people and infrastructure city-wide," said Cecilio Olivier, project manager with EOR, Inc. "By undertaking the development of this Plan, the City is taking a leadership role on a very important issue. We are looking forward to discussing the status of the Plan and hearing more ideas from the community."
Wednesday's open house is the culmination of three days of local engagement about the Stormwater Management Master Plan. EOR, Inc. made a presentation to City Council at a non-business meeting on Monday, March 9, and will discuss the plan with local stakeholder groups on Tuesday, March 10.
