The City of Thunder Bay is pleased to announce the 2025 Call to Artists for Snow Sculptures for the annual SnowDay on the Waterfront on Family Day, February 17, 2025, at Prince Arthur’s Landing, Marina Park.
SnowDay on the Waterfront embraces winter with fun outdoor programming designed to get people outside and enjoying the season. The snow sculptures are the event's main attraction. Professional artists, professional artist-led teams, organizations, and community groups across the region and beyond are encouraged to apply.
An exciting new sculpture competition has been added for 2025. The No Snow, No Problem Sculpture Competition gives artists an opportunity to explore climate resilient materials to create temporary art installations, adding an additional flair of creativity to the much-loved sculpture competition.
“We are thrilled to add a new competition opportunity this year,” said Laurie Abthorpe, Cultural Development & Public Art Coordinator, “including materials beyond snow in our temporary art installations guarantees an enchanting winter art experience no matter what the weather brings.”
There are three separate application processes for submissions for the competitions:
- Snow Sculptures - professional artists and professional artist-led teams.
- Snow Sculptures - community groups and organizations.
- No Snow, No Problem Sculptures - professional artists and professional artist-led teams.
The deadline for submissions is January 10, 2025 at 11:59 pm EST.
