The City of Thunder Bay is excited to provide winter activities for the whole family throughout the Family Day weekend. The usual SnowDay on the Waterfront event has been modified for 2022 due to ongoing pandemic impacts. Instead, the City will be offering small-scale winter activities on the Family Day weekend, Feb. 19 – Feb. 20.  On Family Day, Monday Feb. 21, the popular snow sculptures will return as a self-directed showcase to view until Feb. 27 during regular park hours. All activities will take place at Prince Arthur’s Landing, Marina Park and are weather dependent.

The City of Thunder Bay is pleased to have six teams taking part in this year’s snow sculpture competition in the Festival Area at Marina Park. The competition has an open theme, allowing artists to design and carve a variety of fun, family-friendly concepts. Everyone is invited to come out to see the artistic creations and vote for their favourite snow sculpture.

The polls for the People’s Choice Snow Sculpture Award will open on Monday, Feb. 21 at 9 am and close on Sunday, Feb. 27 at 11:59 pm. Voting will take place online on our Get Involved page or in-person at the Water Garden Pavilion between 12 - 8 pm.

To ensure the safety of the artists, staff and the community, SnowDay activities will adhere to all COVID-19 protocols and safety measures, including mandatory masks and physical distancing for all activities.
