It is with deep sadness that the City has been informed of the passing of Fort William First Nation Band Councillor Leo Jiggs Bannon Sr.

The Mayor and City Council, on behalf of the citizens of Thunder Bay, extend our condolences to the family, friends and residents of Fort William First Nation. A letter of condolence from the Mayor and City Council will be sent to Chief Collins to pay respect. To recognize this significant loss in the Fort William First Nation community, the flags at City Hall and City facilities will fly at half-mast until after the funeral.

Leo Jiggs Bannon Senior was a respected member of Fort William First Nation and served as Band Councillor for several terms over 40 years (since 1974).
