February 7, 2019 – On behalf of the City's Intergovernmental Affairs Committee, Mayor Bill Mauro brought the City of Thunder Bay’s key priorities to the pre-budget consultations held today in Thunder Bay with Ontario Minister of Finance Victor Fedeli.
The items that were presented included:
- Future Contracts for Bombardier
- Cardio-vascular surgery at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre
- Thunder Bay Expressway Project
"We see Thunder Bay and the region playing a key role in a prosperous Ontario economy," said Mayor Mauro. "Everything we can do to contribute to community infrastructure and the overall health, skill and knowledge base of our citizens positions us to better support anticipated growth in the resource sector."
As the Federal Government also prepares its 2019 Budget, priority items were identified and submitted in writing to the Honourable Patty Hajdu and MP Don Rusnak to consider.
These included:
- Work at the Bombardier Plant
- Boulevard Lake Dam Rehabilitation
- Police Services funding
- Investments in highway projects, and;
- Immigration challenges
Continued support was also requested on projects related to social housing, other infrastructure projects and support for business.
