The City of Thunder Bay has released a Request for Expressions of Interest (EOI) for opportunities related to the Baggage Building Arts Centre at Prince Arthur’s Landing.

The City-owned building has been closed since March due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. During the closure, the long-term external operator has withdrawn the licence to operate the building. Responses to this EOI will help the City gauge interest in various options to operate the centre in 2021 and beyond.

“The Baggage Building Arts Centre is a place where people come to be inspired, to learn, to share, and to create,” said Louisa Costanzo, Cultural Development and Events Supervisor, “We were very pleased to have the opportunity to work with Angie Jensen as the BBAC operator over the past eight years. She did an exemplary job of operating the centre as a community arts hub and incubator for creative people and organizations.”

The City will temporarily assume operation of the Baggage Building Arts Centre this fall while future options are considered. The centre will reopen in October on a limited basis for rentals and registered programs only.

More information is available at www.thunderbay.ca/tenders under the title EOI 03-2020 - Baggage Building Arts Centre - Prince Arthur's Landing, Marina Park - Misc. Operators/Partners/Educators.  Application deadline is Thursday, October 8, 2020 at 12 pm local time.
