June 1, 2017 - The City of Thunder Bay is continuing the development of a new Transportation Master Plan and is looking to residents for feedback.
The Plan, to be developed in cooperation with the consulting firm IBI Group Inc., will help guide the City's investment in transportation infrastructure to meet the needs of pedestrians, cyclists, transit riders and motorists for the next 20 plus years. The final Transportation Master Plan is due to be presented to City Council at the end of this year.
Development of the new Plan requires comprehensive input from the public and local stakeholder groups. Residents are encouraged to help shape the City's future transportation needs by attending one of the upcoming in-person consultation sessions. Sessions include the Bike Summit on Saturday, June 3, the Kite Festival on Sunday, June 4, and a drop-in Public Open House on Tuesday, June 6, from 4 - 7 pm, at the Victoria Inn.
"By undertaking the development of this Plan, the City is taking an important step in addressing the City's future transportation needs," said Kayla Dixon - Director, Engineering & Operations Division. "We are looking forward to discussing the status of the Plan and hearing more ideas from the community."
This is the second set of public consultation opportunities, with the first held in January 2017 and the next round scheduled for the Fall of 2017.
