In recognition of today’s International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the City of Thunder Bay’s Accessibility Advisory Committee is pleased to launch their 2021 Accessibility Open House – Virtual Edition. This Open House will consist of informational videos made available on the City’s social media channels, including YouTube and Facebook.
The Virtual Open House video presentations were created to: celebrate improved accessibility in our City; recognize areas where accessibility can be improved; promote an inclusive City; foster mental health awareness; and share information relating to human rights in Ontario and relevant resources. Videos will be posted to social media in the coming days, and may also be accessed at the 2021 Accessibility Advisory Committee Open House playlist on the City of Thunder Bay’s YouTube channel.
“It’s important we increase awareness of accessibility and barrier removal for people with disabilities, whether those disabilities are visible or non-visible,” said Scott Garner, the City’s Municipal Accessibility Specialist. “We are excited to offer these educational short videos to the public so they can expand their understanding and be inclusive in our community.”
The City of Thunder Bay’s Accessibility Advisory Committee guides the City in meeting and/or exceeding provincial accessibility legislation and removing barriers for people with disabilities.
