EarthCare Thunder Bay (EarthCare) is launching Phase 2 of the Community Energy and Emissions Plan with public engagement taking place online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
COVID-19 is transforming our world and affecting all of our daily lives. Planning for energy is one of the critical challenges we face. Help us continue this important work as we engage with stakeholders to develop the CEEP to identify and promote policies, practices, and an approach to energy that meets our needs and promotes sustainability into the future.
Phase 2 of the Community Energy and Emissions Plan will aim to involve residents in the prioritization of low-carbon action selection criteria through an online survey, which can be found on the City’s Get Involved page, until May 31.
“Residents are encouraged to participate and have their say as we work to set a path to achieve community-wide net-zero carbon emissions by 2050,” said Summer Stevenson – Acting Sustainability Coordinator. “We understand that these are unprecedented times; however, the community plays an important role in moving this Plan forward.”
EarthCare began the planning process for the creation of a Community Energy and Emissions Plan (CEEP) in January 2020. EarthCare is conducting a community-wide energy use and greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) inventory and developing an action plan to reduce energy consumption and GHG emissions, with the ultimate goal of being carbon neutral by 2050.
EarthCare Thunder Bay (EarthCare) is a partnership between the City of Thunder Bay and the community. EarthCare’s mission is to lead the community toward environmental health, and as a result improve the social, cultural, and economic wellbeing of future generations.
