On Monday, July 24, City Council adopted the City of Thunder Bay’s new 2023 – 2027 “Maamawe, Growing Together” Strategic Plan. The Plan focuses on improving the quality of life in the areas of Truth & Reconciliation, Safety & Well-being, Growth, and Sustainability. The Plan can be viewed online at www.thunderbay.ca/StratPlan.

“With the direction set by City Council, we now get to work on action planning,” said City Manager Norm Gale. “This means identifying our actions, milestones, leads and success indicators – the building blocks we’ll use over the next five years to achieve the Strategic Plan goals.”

The public is invited to get involved through a community survey until Aug. 31, 2023. Additionally, the City will also be conducting stakeholder and internal Department engagement.

“Citizens can bring unique ideas, insight and experiences,” said Gale. “We want to consider all options to reach our goals and that means hearing from the community and stakeholders in addition to the expertise provided by City Administration. With all ideas on the table, we’ll identify the best path forward.”

The community survey is available at www.thunderbay.ca/GetInvolved, or can also be picked up from City Hall or all branches of the Thunder Bay Public Library.

The finalized Strategic Action Plan will be presented to City Council for approval before the end of 2023 with regular bi-annual updates on progress over the next four years.
