Pioneer Ridge and Jasper Place Begin Staged Approach to Reopening

“Pioneer and Jasper Place welcome the long awaited visitor announcement and the privilege of reuniting residents and tenants with their families,” said Lee Mesic, Administrator Pioneer Ridge. “As both Homes prepare for this movement, both emphasize the need for a gradual, phased approached with close monitoring and guidelines.”

Following the provincial government’s announcement on Wednesday, July 15, for Long-Term Care Homes to move to stage two of a gradual, staged resumption of visits, effective immediately Pioneer Ridge Long-Term Care Home and Jasper Supportive Housing will now permit two visitors at one time during outdoor visits. COVID-19 tests for these visitors, who maintain social distance, are no longer required.

Preparations are also underway for indoor visits which may begin as early as next week but will not commence until all arrangements are in place to follow the strict safety guidelines. Regulations on inside visits include instructions on infection control practices, scheduled limited visits, a negative COVID-19 test, initially only primary care givers, mandatory masks, limits on the number of visitors in the facility at one time and close monitoring of all guidelines.

All aspects of reopening will be closely monitored and the Homes will be prepared to adjust steps as required to continue to ensure the safety of the residents and staff remain top priority.

Pioneer Ridge Long-Term Care Home and Jasper Supportive Housing are pleased to take these important steps forward to reunite families and continue to encourage loved ones to maintain the outside window visits and virtual visits that so many residents and tenants are enjoying.
