Today, the Ontario government announced that they are reopening more services and businesses beginning this long weekend, and over the next week.

Although we await the official order from the Province and further specifics, City-run golf courses expect to open on Friday, May 22, after staff have been recalled, training is completed (i.e. on equipment, new safety provisions and protocols etc.) and courses are ready with basic site maintenance and preparation.

Subject to review of the Provincial order, the Marina is expected to open on Friday, May 15 to allow boaters to place their boats in the water and secure their boats to their slips. On Saturday, May 16 the marina is expected to open for recreational boating.

“We are working very hard and as quickly as practical to open services and amenities as the Province allows and in accordance with Provincial restrictions,” said Norm Gale, City Manager. “"We are taking a responsible and reasonable approach to reopening these services, and will focus on safety for staff and the public using these services.”

Decisions on programs and services are being made on a daily basis. For the most up-to-date list of service changes, and additional city service information lines, visit: www.thunderbay.ca/coronavirus
