Mayor Bill Mauro is pleased to bring the Enbridge Gas Mayor’s Mulligan Golf Tournament back to Chapples golf course on Friday, Sept. 10. The event, now in its 17th year, has been a long-standing community tournament in support of PRO Kids, and this year, as kids and families recover from the impacts of COVID-19, this is more important than ever.
“I am so proud and appreciative of the work that PRO Kids does in our community,” said Mayor Bill Mauro. “Being part of a team, organization, or group can have a meaningful impact on a young person’s emotional and physical development. PRO Kids makes this possible for youth who would otherwise be left out. I want to extend my thanks to everyone who generously supports this event which helps us build a healthier community for all.”
“Many kids have been dramatically impacted by the pandemic and families are telling us their kids need to socialize and get active again,” said Laura Daniele, PRO Kids Coordinator. “We are seeing an upswing in the number of families that are asking for PRO Kids help and events like the Enbridge Gas Mayor’s Mulligan go a long way towards us being able to get kids into the activities again.”
This year’s Mulligan will take on a different format to allow for flexibility to meet public health measures. The tournament, which sees teams of four participate in a one of a kind nine hole tournament with contests, challenges, and prizes, will have set tee-off times between 11 am and 3 pm. Team registration is $400 in support of PRO Kids and includes a lunch. A Tbaytel Putting Challenge will also be open during the Mulligan running from 10 am to 7 pm at Chapples. Golfers are invited to come down and challenge their friends while having a chance to win some great prizes. Putting contest entry is $10 or $20 (with two mulligans) and is open to any member of the community as well as tournament participants.
Members of the Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame will be on-site throughout the day to help participants at the Tbaytel Putting Contest and provide encouragement and support. They will also join Acadia Broadcasting, who will be broadcasting live on location, to share their stories of recreation and sport and its impact on their lives.
The Mayor’s Mulligan is proudly presented by Enbridge Gas. “I can’t think of a better way to make a difference than by providing youth with the opportunity to be part of a sport or activity they love,” said Luke Skaarup, Regional Director. “At Enbridge Gas, we believe that supporting the municipalities we serve is key to building vibrant and healthy communities. We are honoured to support PRO Kids through the Mayor’s Mulligan.”
Additional sponsorships for the Enbridge Gas Mayor’s Mulligan are also available to showcase local businesses.
