WHEREAS, the Canadian Paralympic Committee and the Paralympic Foundation of Canada are launching the IGNITE the Light campaign on July 9th to mark 50 days until the Paralympic Games;

WHEREAS, this campaign aims to illuminate over 50 landmarks across Canada, demonstrating our collective support for the Canadian Paralympic Team as they prepare to compete on the world stage in August;

WHEREAS, the following iconic landmarks, among others, will be part of this celebration: Niagara Falls, CN Tower, BC Place, Calgary Tower, La Grande Roue de Montreal, Lethbridge City Hall, St. John's NL City Hall, Red Deer City Hall, Peterborough City Hall, and Province House in Halifax;

WHEREAS, this initiative also supports the Paralympic Foundation of Canada's fundraising efforts, fostering a vibrant and inclusive environment for all Canadians to celebrate the achievements and resilience of our Paralympic athletes;

NOW, THEREFORE, I Ken Boshcoff, Mayor of the City of Thunder Bay, do hereby proclaim July 9th as IGNITE the Light Day in Thunder Bay, urging all citizens to join in lighting up our landmarks and cheering on the Canadian Paralympic Team.
