Beginning Aug. 16, the section of Court Street currently closed to traffic will be extended through the intersection of Court Street & Red River Road, as work on the North Core Streetscapes project continues. Motorists are asked to drive with caution in the affected area.

During the closure, local businesses in the construction area will remain open.

While road closures can be frustrating, the North Core Streetscapes project will provide long-term benefits.

“This project originated through the need to replace aging infrastructure under the road. The extensive excavation required to complete that work offered us an opportunity,” said Brian Newman, Senior Project Engineer. “In addition to replacing end-of-life watermains and storm and sanitary sewers, we are redesigning and resurfacing the roadway, installing new sidewalks, streetlights and traffic signals, and adding new public spaces to create an enhanced pedestrian experience.”

“We understand that construction can be disruptive, but we're excited about the improvements this project will bring to our city,” said Waterfront District BIA representative Kara Pratt. “We encourage everyone to continue supporting the businesses in the area. Your patronage during this time is essential. Together, we'll emerge with a more beautiful and functional north core.”
