JUNE 2022

WHEREAS, this month, we take the opportunity to acknowledge the history and culture of the Italian community in Thunder Bay and across the country;

WHEREAS, this month recognizes the richness of the Italian culture and the contributions of the Italian community to our city and the importance of preserving this heritage for future generations. Many Italian immigrants and their descendant’s helped shape and build our city which they call home;

WHEREAS, during Italian heritage Month we Celebrate June 2, Italy’s Republic Day. On this day and throughout the month, we can learn more about the outstanding contributions Italian Canadians have made to our city through food, music and art.

NOW THEREFORE, I, the Mayor of the City of Thunder Bay, do hereby proclaim June as “Italian Heritage Month” in the City of Thunder Bay
