February 3, 2015 - Jasper Place was presented with the national Caring Community Award from Canada Cares this past November for their successful Support Services Program.

Canada Cares, a not-for-profit organization that builds multi-disciplinary, multi-sector partnerships focused on promoting and supporting family and professional caregivers and the important role they play in our society, chose Jasper Place as part of their coast-to-coast search for the most caring and supportive facilities and programs.

"It's an honour that our program, and the dedicated staff and partners that make the program so successful, have been recognized," said Donna Ostrom, Jasper Place Program Manager. "The collaboration between our staff, clients and outside agencies enables us to create unique care solutions and give clients the independence that we all greatly value. I hope we are able to serve as inspiration to other organizations."

The award recognizes the unique three-way partnership created at Jasper Place between clients, formal and informal caregivers, and the facility. The Program's open door policy creates a supportive environment and active, community outreach, while its strong relationships with external agencies streamline care. The Support Services Program is intended for seniors whose physical status and/or lack of adequate social supports threatens their ability to remain living independently in the community. The Canada Cares judges also praised the facility's "Nice Fund", an innovative fund that community partners can access to meet a specific client's needs.
