September 6, 2017 - The City of Thunder Bay will host a Pre-Budget Consultation on Tuesday, Sept. 12, where the public is invited to learn more about the 2018 City Budget and discuss what is important to them.

"City Council is committed to engaging citizens in the budget process," said Councillor Frank Pullia, Chair of Committee of the Whole - Administrative Services including Budget deliberations. "This is the third time we've held this event and we were happy to see so many residents take part. We've had many interesting conversations and we were given some great ideas. I trust the same will be true this year."

The Pre-Budget Consultation 2018 will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 12, from 6:30 pm - 9 pm, at the Italian Cultural Centre, 132 Algoma St. S.

A brief presentation will take place at 6:30 pm followed by an opportunity to visit City Departments and a Priorities Station. At the City Department tables, the public will have an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback to City Administration. At the Priorities Station, the public will be invited to share input on what is important to them.

"This is a great opportunity for citizens to be involved in the budget process," said Norm Gale, City Manager. "Residents will have the opportunity to talk with senior City Administration from various departments, provide feedback and share their views on City issues."

Information gathered at the session will be summarized and presented to City Council as part of the 2018 Budget deliberations.

NEW THIS YEAR: The Province is allowing municipalities to tailor the vacant unit and reduction programs to respond to local needs. Property owners, business owners and the general public are encouraged to share their views on the future of these programs.

The City of Thunder Bay thanks members of SHIFT Young Professionals Network for their assistance with facilitation at the session.
