April 26, 2016 - The City of Thunder Bay is pleased to announce that the City has reached a Memorandum of Settlement with Unifor Local 229 Superior North Emergency Medical Services Thunder Bay (SNEMS).

"This is very positive news for citizens of Thunder Bay," said Mayor Keith Hobbs. "We need our valuable paramedics on the front-line, not the picket line. All of Council certainly values their important service to the community."

"We are pleased to reach a tentative settlement and avoid a strike situation," said Norm Gale City Manager.  "It's a credit to the bargaining teams on both sides of the table. We look forward to the continued delivery of excellent emergency medical services to the residents of Thunder Bay."

The agreement is still subject to ratification by both parties. Unifor Local 229 represents about 57 full-time, 28 part-time, and four temporary paramedics in the City of Thunder Bay.
