December 15, 2016 - Employees of the City of Thunder Bay, Superior North EMS, and Thunder Bay Public Library proudly pledged $213,141.72 to the United Way today following the close of the Municipal Division's 21st Annual United Way Employee Campaign, $16,866.72 over the campaign goal.
At a special wrap-up celebration, cheques where presented to United Way Executive Director Jared Zieroth valued at:
- Thunder Bay Public Library: $2,673.81
- Superior North EMS: $34,635.10
- City of Thunder Bay: $175,832.81
"The teamwork and generosity shown by our employees is amazing and makes us proud to work among them," said Kerri Marshall, General Manager of Infrastructure & Operations and Municipal Division Campaign Co-Chair. "Thank you for stepping up and supporting the United Way."
Over the past 21 years, the Municipal Division Employee Campaign has given $2,782,128.98 to the United Way to support their efforts. Employees contribute through payroll deduction, monetary donations, Dress Down/Different Days, special departmental initiatives, and events like the Kick-off Luncheon, Earthcare Event, Tricks and Treats Dinner & Dance, Mayor's Mulligan Golf Tournament, and the Jeans & Jewels Christmas Party
"We would also like to thank and recognize the many volunteers who worked hard on the numerous events throughout the year," said Paula Ojala, Municipal Division Campaign Co-Chair. "These events would not have been possible without their dedication and commitment."
Well over 50 per cent of Municipal Division employees financially contributed towards the United Way Campaign, which was organized and supported by more than 250 tremendous volunteers. The Executive Committee would also like to acknowledge and thank the staff of the United Way for their ongoing support and assistance during this campaign.
