July 18, 2016 - Local NHL goalie Matt Murray of the 2016 Stanley Cup-Winning Pittsburgh Penguins raised the team's flag outside the Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame today.

At a special ceremony to recognize the achievements of local hockey hero Matt Murray, Mayor Hobbs presented an official City Scroll to Murray with his mother and family in attendance.

"This is such an honour to be here with Matt, as hockey is such a big part of Thunder Bay," said Mayor Keith Hobbs. "So many young people have played here and dreamed of getting to where this young man has made it in such a short time. We are so proud to have a local role-model and talented athlete like Matt Murray, represent our City."

The ceremony was hosted by the NWO Sports Hall of fame with Executive Director Diane Imrie and Vice President Harry Curtis present.
