July 21, 2017 - The City of Thunder Bay is pleased to announce that Nadjiwan will be featured at Live on the Waterfront, presented by Ontario Power Generation, on July 26.
The man behind the music of Nadjiwan, Marc Merilainen, was born in northern Manitoba and raised in the untamed beauty of Northwestern Ontario. He is a member of the Chippewas of Nawash First Nation and knew from an early age that he would perform music. He has achieved much success in both Canada and the United States. He is fresh off his latest performance at the North American Indigenous Games in Toronto.
"I am really looking forward to making a return to my home town of Thunder Bay and very excited to release the latest studio album by Nadjiwan titled 'Superposition' on Wednesday July 26th at our show," said Marc Merilainen, "Thunder Bay is where I started this project & it seems like the perfect venue to release this exciting new album. In fact, a song of this new record was recorded here in Thunder Bay and co-written with the multi-talented Jean-Paul De Roover."
Robin Ranger, a jazz composer and musician from Fort William First Nation, and Jean-Paul De Roover, who constructs his songs piece by piece before your eyes, will also perform Wednesday evening.
Live on the Waterfront, presented by Ontario Power Generation, runs from 6pm - 9pm every Wednesday, from July 12 to August 30 and is funded in part by the Government of Ontario.
