WHEREAS, Canada’s forests are a valuable, renewable resource that contribute to our economy and the livelihoods of our communities; and

WHEREAS, Canada’s forests play a crucial role in maintaining healthy ecosystems, clean air and water and wildlife habitat whilst being an important aspect of climate change mitigation efforts; and

WHEREAS, The City of Thunder Bay and its citizens rely on the surrounding forests for livelihood, health, and recreation; and

WHEREAS, This annual one-week campaign with the theme of “Canada’s Forests: Supporting Biological Diversity” will be celebrated across Canada by individuals and organizations.

NOW THEREFORE, I, Ken Boshcoff, as Mayor of the City of Thunder Bay, I declare September 17-23, 2023 as “National Forest Week” in the City of Thunder Bay.
