Following an extensive search and hiring process, Keri Greaves has been selected as the new City Treasurer, effective September 5, Karen Lewis, General Manager of the Corporate Services Department, announced today.

For the past 12 years, Mr. Greaves has served as the Manager of Finance at The District of Thunder Bay Social Services Administration Board (TBDSSAB). A lifelong resident of Thunder Bay, Greaves is a graduate of the Lakehead University Honours Bachelor of Commerce program, and a Chartered Professional Accountant with 20 years of public sector accounting experience.

"I’m very pleased that Keri Greaves has accepted the position of City Treasurer,” said Lewis. "He brings strong financial management and leadership to the role and will make a valuable addition to the Corporate Services Team.”

Led by the City Treasurer, the Office of the City Treasurer is responsible for handling financial affairs of the municipality, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations, maintaining accurate records and accounts, and providing information as required or requested by Council.

“I’m excited to join the leadership team at the City of Thunder Bay, and I look forward to working with Administration and Council to position the City and maximize its long-term potential,” said Greaves.

Emma Westover and Andrea Morrison have served as City Treasurer in an Acting capacity while the corporate re-organization and hiring search were underway. General Manager Lewis thanks both Emma and Andrea for their efforts and looks forward to the collaboration among the experienced finance professionals across the Corporation.

Keri will be appointed City Treasurer through a by-law presented to City Council tonight and will step into the role as of Sept. 5, 2023.  He will attend his first Committee of the Whole meeting as City Treasurer on Sept. 11.
