New multi-space parking pay machines have been installed on a block of St. Paul St., Cumberland St., Van Norman St., and Park Ave.
“We are working towards modernizing our operations,” said Jonathan Paske, Supervisor – Parking Authority. “These new multi-space machines will give people more ways to pay, are user-friendly and easy to use.”
Two machines on each block will be replacing the old single-space parking meters. The transition to the new machines on St. Paul St. and Cumberland St. will take place on Thursday, Aug. 19. Signs will be posted on the blocks affected to notify drivers of the change. Operation of the new machines on Van Norman St. and Park Ave. will begin when the new angle parking stalls are implemented this September.
When an individual parks on one of these indicated blocks they will be required to visit the parking pay machine and enter their license plate number and length of time they wish to park. Payment can be made by coins, credit card, or a meter card. After completing the payment drivers can continue to their destination. There is no need to return to their vehicle – no display slip is required. Simply enter the required information, pay, and the transaction is complete.
The Parking Authority would also like to remind residents a 15 minute curb-side grace period for pick-up and delivery continues to be offered to accommodate brief transactions at local businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic.
