November 16, 2016 - New traffic signals at the intersection of Central Avenue and Carrick Street will be activated at approximately 11 am on Friday, Nov. 18.
"An Engineering study which was conducted in 2014, identified that traffic signals were required at this location," said Ryan Love - Traffic Technologist. "They will improve walkability and traffic flow in the area, and reduce vehicle delay."
This traffic signal will include advanced left turns from Central onto Carrick, fully-accessible pedestrian signals and video vehicle detection.
This will bring the total number of traffic signals to 112, plus one pedestrian crossover.
Motorists travelling in the area are asked to use extra caution while the lights are being activated. The schedule is subject to change, as various factors - such as weather - can have an impact on project timelines.
