As the City of Thunder Bay continues the Reimagining the North Core Streetscapes Project to guide the redesign of the streets in the downtown North Core, a new Winter Streetscape pilot project is being added. This will consist of a protected flexible-use area on the northwest corner of Cumberland Street and Red River Road, which will allow for future event programing.

The City will remove the granite blocks on Red River Road and Cumberland Street by early next week. Two way traffic on Cumberland Street will be restored, and angle parking will be retained.

Residents are encouraged to learn more about the project and sign up to stay engaged about future project updates and opportunities to get involved. Information on the Reimagining the North Core Streetscapes Project is available on our Get Involved page.
