All city outdoor swimming pools and supervised beaches will be open starting Friday, June 30, including Art Widnall Pool, Heath Park Pool, Boulevard Lake and Sandy Beach at Chippewa.

“If you are looking for free and fun options to cool off in the summer months, the City operates a number of outdoor pools and supervised beaches across the community for everyone to enjoy,” said Kim Begin, Supervisors of Aquatics, Wellness, Children and Youth.

Beaches

  • Supervision of Sandy Beach takes place from June 30 to August 30. All swims at Sandy Beach are free for the general public and begin at 11:30 am.
  • Supervision of the Main Beach at Boulevard Lake takes place from June 30 - August 31. All swims at Boulevard Lake are free for the general public and begin at 12 noon.

Outdoor Pools

The City of Thunder Bay is home to two seasonal outdoor pools:

Art Widnall Pool, 820 Minnesota Street

  • Opens at 12 pm for Adult Lengths followed by Public Swim at 1 pm
  • Toonie lessons: Monday-Friday 11:00-11:45am
  • Adult Lengths: Monday-Friday 12-1pm
  • Public Swim: Monday- Sunday 1-5pm and Mon/Tues/Thurs/Fri/Saturday 6pm-8pm
  • Family Swim: Wednesday 6pm-8pm

 

Heath Pool, 1251 Heath Street

  • Opens at 12 pm for Adult Lengths followed by Public Swim at 1 pm
  • Toonie Lessons: Monday/Wednesday/Friday 11:00-11:45am
  • Aqua Energizers: Tuesday/Thursday 11-11:30am
  • Lengths swims: Monday-Friday 12-1pm
  • Public Swim: Monday- Sunday 1-5pm and Mon/Wed/Fri/Saturday 6pm-8pm
  • Family Swim: Tues/Thurs 6pm-8pm
