Many of the City’s boarded outdoor skating rinks, as well as the Vickers Park Skating Trail, will be opening today at 1 pm, for residents to enjoy.

The City’s website features an "Outdoor Rink Map" that shows the opening status of each rink. The map will be updated in real time during the holidays as rinks become ready to open.

Some rinks still require further flooding and maintenance before they can officially open. Please check the website or the signs at each location for updates. Skating is not recommended on closed rinks as the ice surface may be hazardous to users.

Unboarded skating ponds are still being prepared, pending weather conditions. Residents are reminded that ice conditions can change quickly throughout the season, leading to unexpected closures.

The City operates and maintains 31 outdoor skating rink sites across the City. Parks Supervised locations operate from 1 pm - 9 pm daily on their operating days.

The following rinks will be supervised and open from 1 pm - 9 pm on Boxing Day (December 26) and New Year’s Day (January 1):
  • Carrick Park
  • North End Community Centre
  • West End Park
  • West Thunder Community Centre
  • Northwood Playfield (James Street)

All other supervised rinks will be closed and unsupervised from December 24–26, December 31, and January 1.
