To further improve safety for both pedestrians and drivers, the City is activating a pedestrian crossover at Victoria Avenue and Ford Street beginning Monday, Oct. 28.

Motorists and cyclists using Victoria Avenue must now stop when a pedestrian is waiting to cross and the crossover lights start flashing. Crossovers make it easy, safe and convenient for people to cross the street.

“Because crossovers are only activated on demand, this permits both good traffic flow and a safe way for pedestrians to cross,” said Matt Miedema, Project Engineer. “Crossovers also cost less to implement than signalized intersections and we’ve found them to be very effective.”
