A Partner Recognition Brunch was hosted by PRO Kids on Sunday, April 23, to recognize and honour the recreational activity partners who have helped make a difference in the lives of local children and youth.

The event, which took place at the Best Western Plus Nor’Wester Hotel and Conference Centre, marked a major milestone for PRO Kids as the organization celebrates 25 years of providing Positive Recreation Opportunities for kids in need. Since 1998, PRO Kids has placed over 27,000 local children into activities, helping them learn new skills, form friendships, stay active and become leaders.

“The partnership between the Thunder Bay Girls Softball Association and PRO Kids is vital in supporting young girls who have dreams and want the opportunity to play or learn softball,” said Lorne Krisko, Vice-President, Thunder Bay Girls Softball Association. “We are grateful for this collaboration and the joy it brings young girls in Thunder Bay.”

“I know how hard our community partners work and how many long hours they put into organizing their activities so that all kids have positive experiences,” said Laura Daniele, PRO Kids Coordinator.

The 25th Anniversary Partner Recognition Brunch featured a program highlighting the impact of PRO Kids over the last 25 years, as well as remarks from partners, community leaders, and alumni of the founding PRO Kids Advisory Committee. Attendees were provided a complimentary brunch sponsored by the Best Western Plus Nor’Wester Hotel and Conference Centre and the opportunity to network and connect with fellow partners and PRO Kids supporters.

“Whether organizers are volunteers or business owners, they donate or discount their registration fees to accommodate children and youth referred by PRO Kids,” said Daniele. “They are dedicated and passionate about promoting their activity and have made a huge difference in the lives of kids in Thunder Bay. They are mentors, leaders, and doers, and very deserving of our recognition and thanks.”

During the event, forty-three 25-year partners were presented with a special plaque to recognize their support and achievements. The plaques will serve as a tribute to the partners’ commitment to making a difference in the lives of local children. In addition, over one hundred other attendees were recognized for their generosity and dedication to local Thunder Bay youth and the PRO Kids cause.
