July 28, 2016 - A four person delegation from Thunder Bay will be returning to Little Canada, Minnesota this weekend for the Annual Canadian Days celebration.
A Sister City of Thunder Bay since 1977, Little Canada is located north of Minneapolis and has a population of 10,000. The celebration features a Mayor's reception, Canadian themed music, food vendors, sporting events, fireworks and a Canadian Days Parade.
"I am looking forward to taking part in the many festivities happening during the Canadian Days celebration," says Acting-Mayor Joe Virdiramo. "The growth of friendships between individual citizens, groups, and organizations will no doubt flourish as a result of this visit and ongoing exchanges."
Thunder Bay's delegation includes: Acting Mayor, Joe Virdiramo, Ms. Josie Virdiramo, Ms. Ewa Gulbinowicz and Mr. Youlian Peng of the Sister Cities Advisory Committee.
The objectives of Sister Cities are to promote friendship, goodwill, education, economics and tourism between municipalities. Representatives from Thunder Bay have attended Little Canada's Canadian Days celebration for many years, and hope to continue this tradition for years to come.
