The City of Thunder Bay is currently seeking applications from individuals who wish to bring their business and board governance experience to a position with the Board of SYNERGY NORTH CORPORATION. As a Provincially regulated electricity distribution company, the utility distributes electricity to over 56,000 residential and business customers in the Cities of Thunder Bay and Kenora, has assets in excess of $160 million, and employs over 140 staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

SYNERGY NORTH CORPORATION is seeking two Directors to join an established eight member Board that will contribute to the enhancement of strong business and governance practices for the organization. Director terms are three years in length. The Board will meet as often as required to provide effective governance and oversight. Currently, the Board meets five times per calendar year with additional committee responsibilities. It should be noted that the meetings of the Board take place in Thunder Bay. Travel expenses, should they be required, will be reimbursed. The successful candidates will possess business and governance skills which complement and strengthen the abilities of the existing Directors. Directors must possess experience in:

  • corporate strategic planning
  • corporate board experience

For this selection process, the following skill has been identified as a desirable asset:

  •  demonstrated financial expertise
