July 4, 2017 - The City of Thunder Bay is pleased to announce that The White Buffalo will be featured at Live on the Waterfront, presented by Ontario Power Generation, on July 12.
"We could not imagine a better way to kick off our summer music series," said Ash Young, Cultural Development & Events Supervisor. "Everyone working on this show is excited to present The White Buffalo, a world-class talent, at Live on the Waterfront."
Jake Smith who performs under the moniker White Buffalo is a singer, songwriter, guitarist and sole charter member. He was born in Oregon and raised in Huntington Beach. His parents helped to instill an abiding love for country music during his childhood, which subsequently gravitated towards punk rock. Over the course of five albums, various EPs, and numerous prominent placements in such high-profile outlets as TV's Sons of Anarchy and Californication, Smith has built a powerful body of work that marks him as a genuine original. The California-bred artist writes timeless, vividly detailed character studies, tapping into the emotional lives of various misfits, outsiders and troubled souls with insight and compassion. His songwriting is matched by his rough-hewn, deeply expressive voice, and by his distinctive instrumental arrangements, which are simultaneously intimate and epic.
Thunder Bay folk artist Mary Walker will open the July 12 show, followed by Ryan MacDonald from The Honest Heart Collective. Live on the Waterfront runs from 6 pm - 9 pm every Wednesday from July 12 to August 30.
Live on the Waterfront is funded in part by the Government of Ontario.
