Starting today, City splash pads located at County Park, North End Recreation Centre, and Franklin Park will be open to the public. Staff will be on-site to coordinate and monitor the splash pad operations. Cory Halvorsen, Manager of the City’s Parks & Open Spaces Section, shared his enthusiasm. “We are very excited to open the splash pads today. They are great way for kids to have fun, get outside for some exercise, and cool off in the summer.”
Operation of the splash pads must be in accordance with Provincial COVID-19 guidelines, which include limiting the number of users on the splash pad to allow for physical distancing, hourly sanitizing of common touch points, and hand sanitization prior to use.
Users are responsible for following the guidelines including physical distancing and group size restrictions, while using the splash pads and the surrounding Park space. Rules of operation will be clearly posted at the sites, and staff will be available to provide direction and clarification.
