The Thunder Bay 55 Plus Centre, located at 700 River Street, is temporarily closed due acts of vandalism. Over the evening (July 6 – 7), several windows were broken at the facility. Given the extent of damage, the Centre remains closed and all programming is cancelled July 7 – 9, as crews work on clean-up and repair. Impacted stakeholder groups have been contacted directly.
“We are dismayed the Centre has been vandalized,” said Twyla Biluk, Supervisor of Older Adults. “We apologize for any inconvenience this closure causes to our valued participants and look forward to safely reopening the facility next week.”
The City is working with Thunder Bay Police Service to investigate the incident. It is anticipated the Centre will reopen on Monday, July 10, and resume normal operations.
