A delegation including Mayor Ken Boshcoff, Councillor Kristen Oliver, Chair – Intergovernmental Affairs Committee, Councillor Shelby Chng, Vice Chair – Intergovernmental Affairs Committee and City Manager Norm Gale attended the 2023 Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA) Conference in Toronto from January 22 to 24. They brought several community issues and key priorities forward to lobby for action and/or funding.

The ROMA 2023 conference program brought forward a wide range of issues that are critically important to rural and northern municipalities, and brought together municipal leaders from all over Ontario together with Provincial politicians to discuss and advance the priorities of rural communities.

 It is a key moment for municipal and provincial officials to connect on the unique challenges faced by rural and northern municipalities. It presents an opportunity to profile municipal priorities and demonstrate participation and advocacy on local needs.
