December 11, 2015 - The City of Thunder Bay is encouraging upcoming health care professionals to choose Thunder Bay as their career location. The City will host the 15th Annual Home for the Holidays Health Care Student Reception Monday, Dec. 21, at St. Joseph's Heritage, from 12 - 2 pm.

The Health Care Student Reception is an annual event for students from Thunder Bay studying medicine or other health care fields. Students are provided the opportunity to meet with local health care representatives and start discussing employment options. This reception attracts a wide cross-section of students who are studying in fields such as medicine, nursing, nutrition, pharmacy, rehabilitation, physiotherapy, speech language pathology, sleep technologists along with many others.

Various health care organizations and health clinics throughout the City will be present and available to meet with students. Some noteworthy organizations/clinics that will be present are: St. Joseph's Care Group, the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, Thunder Bay Regional Research Institute, the Northern Ontario School of Medicine, Norwest Community Health Centres, Lakehead Nurse Practitioner Led Clinic, Medical Diagonistics & Consulting, Anishnawbe Mushikiki and the Thunder Bay Naturopathic Clinic.

"This is a fun event where the students reconnect with one another, network with health care representatives and learn about potential career opportunities," said Brady Lucas, Community Relations Coordinator. "The organizations involved are always eager to meet with local students and discuss future opportunities."

The 2015 Health Care Student Reception is presented by the City of Thunder Bay Recreation & Culture Division and supported by the following sponsors: RBC Royal Bank and the Northern Ontario School of Medicine Thunder Bay Local NOSM Group.
