Drivers are being urged to use extra caution on local roads, after Environment Canada issued a winter storm warning for the city.
The Thunder Bay area is expected to receive snowfall amounts of 25 to 50 centimetres beginning Monday and continuing through Tuesday night. There is also a risk of freezing rain or ice pellets.
The city urges motorists to take steps to adjust to winter driving conditions including:
- Slow down
- Give other vehicles lots of room
- Have patience with other drivers, and
- Pay extra attention to pedestrians and cyclists
Please be careful when approaching a plow or sander and give them extra room to work.
City crews began clearing streets at 3 a.m. on Monday. Find more information on the City’s response online at www.thunderbay.ca/snow
