The City’s twice-yearly Treasure Exchange Days event will take place this coming weekend on June 15 and 16. Residents with used items in good condition that they wish to give away may leave them on the curb any time after 5 pm on Friday, June 14, labelled “free.” Residents can then tour their neighbourhoods over the weekend to find treasures.
Treasure Exchange Days helps divert waste from the landfill, and gives a second life to good-condition used items. The event is a great opportunity to exchange reusable household items, furniture, small appliances, toys, and more.
All items not taken by treasure-hunters must be removed from the curb by 7 pm on Sunday, June 16. The City’s Solid Waste & Recycling Services will not collect these items.
In the “Best Treasure” contest, treasure-hunters are invited to post photos or videos of the best treasures they find over the weekend to Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #TreasureDays – best photo or video will win a prize!
Treasure Exchange Days, which began in 2014, is an Action Item in the City’s Solid Waste Management Strategy. For more information, visit: www.thunderbay.ca/treasuredays
