AUGUST 24, 2022

WHEREAS, the 24th day of August marks the 31st anniversary of the independence of Ukraine; and

WHEREAS, the people of Ukraine continue to fight for their independence and dignity; and

WHEREAS, the League of Ukrainian Canadians – Thunder Bay Branch wishes to observe and recognize the strength and resilience of the Ukrainian nation and its people on the anniversary of its independence from the totalitarian Russian regime; and

WHEREAS, we wish to unite the Ukrainian community and all Canadians in in celebrating the rich Ukrainian culture and the self-determination of the independence and democratic country of Ukraine.

NOW THEREFORE, I, the Mayor of Thunder Bay, do hereby proclaim August 24, 2022, as Ukrainian Independence Day, in the City of Thunder Bay.
