Residents in Section 1, which includes the Red River, Current River, Woodcrest and Grandview areas, as well as remote and country areas such as Rosslyn and Riverdale whose bills were delayed due to the Canada Post strike are expected to receive their bills shortly with the resumption of Canada Post operations.
These bills will display a due date of December 13. The due date has been extended to January 13, 2025.
Pre-authorized payment plans
Section 1 residents enrolled in pre-authorized payment plans will have their payments taken out on January 13, 2025. A letter will be sent advising of future payments.
Other water billing sections
Residents in Section 2 and 3, which includes Forest Park, Central, Northwood, Simpson, East End, Parkdale, 25th Side Road and Westfort areas, have not been impacted by the postal strike.

Residents that aren’t signed up for the water meter reading reminder service can visit the City’s website at thunderbay.ca/waterbilling to register and stay informed about future updates via email, telephone, or text message.
