Travelers are reminded to expect some detours and delays as reconstruction work begins at the Memorial Avenue and Harbour Expressway intersection.

Overnight work will begin one day earlier than previously announced, with the intersection partially closed between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. starting on Monday, May 27 and ending Saturday, June 1.

The intersection will be closed at Memorial Avenue but continue to allow through traffic on the Harbour Expressway on Monday and Tuesday. Later in the week, closures will shift to the Harbour Expressway, with traffic reopening along Memorial.

Partial lane closures will be in place in the area for several weeks during the day. Work requiring closure of the intersection is taking place overnight to minimize disruption to the public. Further overnight closures are expected on June 25 and 26.

The work includes rebuilding existing traffic signals and associated underground infrastructure, which have reached end of life, and repaving the intersection. It is scheduled for completion in late June, dependent on weather and other factors.
