WHEREAS, over 100,000 Canadian live with Parkinson’s disease – a disorder of the central nervous system that results in a person gradually losing the ability to control body movements; and
WHEREAS, symptoms can vary and can include tremors, slowness of movement, difficultly with balance, wallowing, chewing, and a variety of other non-motor symptoms; and
WHEREAS; World Parkinson’s Day aims to raise awareness and share available resources with those with this debilitating disease and their loved ones.
NOW THEREFORE, I, Ken Boshcoff, Mayor of the City of Thunder Bay, do hereby proclaim April 11, 2024 as “World Parkinson’s Day” in the City of Thunder Bay.
