August 21, 2017 - Training with a Pro: the Baseball Edition hit it out of the park this Sunday, Aug. 20. The newest addition to the Training with a Pro series saw 29 youth practice their baseball skills alongside former local baseball pros. The fundraiser also generated over $1,400 in support of PRO Kids.
"We are ecstatic about running another successful Training with a Pro," said Laura Daniele, PRO Kids Coordinator. "It would not have been possible without Thunder Bay's former baseball pros Chris Toneguzzi, of the Milwaukee Brewers Organization; Bob Jesperson, of the Cincinnati Reds Organization; and Dan Grant, of the Northern Iowa Panthers. These players have so much experience. The clinic provided them the opportunity to share their knowledge with the next generation of baseball players."
The clinic ran for four and a half hours on Sunday at George Burke Park. Led by the former pros, participants ran through drills that focused on pitching, hitting and positioning. The day was then wrapped up with a game of baseball.
Training with a Pro: the Baseball Edition is a fundraising initiative in support PRO Kids - a service that assists children and youth to participate in local activities when the fees are out of reach for their families. Last year PRO Kids placed over 1,400 children and youth in local community recreational activities including sport, leadership, art, culture and music.
PRO Kids would like to thank and recognize presenting sponsor Tbaytel.
