In every season, across our vibrant city, something special happens. People gather—neighbours, families, visitors, friends—and they share something more than just a moment. They share in the heartbeat of our community.

The City of Thunder Bay proudly presents seven award-winning, free public events each year. These are not just events—they are celebrations of who we are. Rooted in culture, connection, and creativity, our events shine a light on the incredible diversity and talent that lives here in Northwestern Ontario, and across Canada. Whether it's a summer night filled with music at Marina Park, the colours and rhythms of multicultural performances, or the energy of interactive technology showcases, there is something for everyone.

These events are for you—our residents—and also for the many tourists who discover Thunder Bay’s unique spirit through these shared experiences. You’ll find local and Canadian artists, vendors and artisans, cultural showcases, food, games, and community expos. But what you’ll take home is more than what you see or hear. You’ll take home a feeling.

Because when we show up for these events, we’re doing more than attending—we’re investing in each other. We’re building social capital—the kind of unspoken strength that grows when people know their neighbours, when kids dance beside elders, when stories are shared and differences are celebrated. Free, accessible events like these create space for everyone to belong, to feel seen, and to connect.

We invite you—no matter who you are, or where you come from—to come out, take part, and be part of something bigger. These moments only happen when you are there. So bring a friend. Bring your curiosity. Bring your energy.

Let’s celebrate Thunder Bay—together.

The City of Thunder Bay Recreation & Culture Division recognizes that a vibrant and liveable community has many unique needs.  We value the contributions of residents and visitors of all backgrounds, abilities, and diverse identities.  We are committed to providing inclusive, diverse, equitable, and accessible processes, programs, and services.  We strive to identify and address barriers by questioning our ideas, beliefs, and biases, and by acknowledging the historical perspectives that contribute to systemic barriers.  We encourage submissions and participation from Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, racialized communities, newcomers, women, and members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.  We aspire to improve access and service where needed and welcome constructive feedback.
