Service Improvements

Starting Sunday, December 8th, Thunder Bay Transit will be implementing service changes to improve service across several routes.

Route 8 - James

Starting Sunday, December 8th, 2024:

To improve travel times and make bus service more reliable, Route 8 - James will change so that buses will no longer operate on Amber Drive and Alloy Drive between Central Avenue and Balmoral Street.

The following stops will be removed from service on December 8th, 2024:

  • 1713 - Central & Reume
  • 1714 - Amber & Jade
  • 1715 - Amber & 1200s Block

Stop locations continuing to serve the area:

  • 1716 - Alloy & Balmoral will be relocated onto Balmoral Street just before Alloy Drive
  • 1712 - Central & 700s Block

Saturday Service

An additional trip has been added to the following routes:

  • 1 - Mainline to Waterfront
  • 2 - Crosstown to College
  • 3J - Jumbo Gardens to Sherwood Dr
  • 8 - James to City Hall

Sunday Service

The first trips departing Water Terminal and City Hall are 10 minutes earlier.

Detours

Parade of Lights - December 7, 2024

The annual Parade of Lights is taking place on Saturday, December 7th from 6:00PM to 9:00PM. During this time sections of Harbour Expressway, Memorial Ave, and Fort William Rd. will be closed. Heavy traffic is expected during the parade and may cause delays in service. During the parade the following detours will be in effect:
